Kenny was born and raised in Durham and attended Durham School of the Arts for middle and high school, where he studied piano, guitar, and bass.Kenny’s foundation is rooted in classical guitar technique and repertoire. During his formative years, he immersed himself in band settings, exploring a variety of styles including jazz and rock. While auditioning for the music program at Florida State University, he had the opportunity to play guitar for Bruce Holzman—a major figure in the classical guitar world—who offered to teach him privately. Although Kenny’s musical path ultimately led him in other directions, the honor of that offer has remained a meaningful milestone in his journey.
