Many people view drums as a “fun” instrument that anyone can play. Playing the drums can be fun, but learning how definitely benefits from quality instruction.

Here at Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts, we pride ourselves on offering drum kit and percussion lessons from skilled and knowledgeable instructors. Our percussion teachers focus on technique, timing, phrasing, dynamics, and other important musical skills. We also help students learn to play both on their own and as part of a group, so they’ll be able to tackle any musical situation.
Without drums and well-trained drummers, music could never have that same body-swaying, toe-tapping element that makes music so powerful and all-encompassing.
Thanks to today’s technology, our beginning students can learn with a simple drum pad and sticks or even with a digital drum kit, which is helpful for keeping down costs and noise. Our drum studio features both a full drum kit and a digital set up as well.
Because we offer drum lessons online and in person, students can learn this exciting instrument in a way and in an environment that works for them. No matter how a student learns and practices, the results are the same: quality skills and great drum playing ability.
