Helen Bryant
Teacher: Piano
Pianist Helen Bryant began her classical studies at age 10 after years of learning jazz classics by ear from her father. Helen’s recent solo appearances include in Salle Cortot and Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris and Salle Claude-Champagne in Montreal. Helen has won top prizes in competitions across the US and abroad, including the 18th Osaka International Competition, Steinway Piano Competition, and the Emory Young Artists Competition. She was featured as a fellow on NPR’s From the Top in 2019, 2020, and 2023. She graduated with her masters and Artist Diploma from the Université de Montréal in 2026, where she studied with Henry Kramer. She graduated as an Angell Scholar with degrees in Piano Performance and Musicology from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 2023, where she studied with Christopher Harding. She also worked as a research assistant and writer for the University of Michigan Gershwin Initiative and American Music Institute, where she contributed to the first critical edition of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, which was published in 2024. In her hometown of Atlanta, she was a student of Alexander Wasserman. Private studies with Yong Hi Moon and Julian Martin are also of primary influence. In her free time, she can usually be found outdoors with her beagle, Frankie, or practicing yoga. She is also fluent in French and enjoys learning new languages.
