David Tedeschi

Teacher: Co-owner, Percussion

David Tedeschi was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, into a family deeply rooted in music and the arts. Following high school, David pursued his musical ambitions at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he studied under esteemed instructors Rich Thompson (Count Basie Orchestra) and John Beck. During his time at Eastman, David’s talent was recognized through numerous opportunities to represent the jazz department at prestigious events across the United States, including a standout performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
After graduating, David moved to Nashville to fulfill his dream of collaborating with songwriters and to study with legendary drummers Chester Thompson (Genesis) and Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts). Despite the allure of Nashville, David felt a strong pull back to the East Coast, leading him to settle in Brooklyn for the next decade. In New York City, David quickly became a sought-after drummer for both live performances and studio sessions. His drumming is featured on albums by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Casey Abrams, Grammy Award winner Tim Kubart, and prominent NYC jazz and blues musicians including Tom Larsen, Wayne Tucker, Andy Stack, Chris Vitarello, and Jeremy Baum. As a touring drummer, David has performed on six continents and in over forty countries, gracing stages such as Radio City Music Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Roundhouse in London, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Recently, he had the privilege of performing alongside pop icon Kate Nash in her debut musical Only Gold, as well as Broadway icon Jason Robert Brown in the premiere of his new musical, The Connector.
David’s passion for drumming extends beyond performing; he finds deep joy and purpose in teaching. Since late high school, he has been dedicated to mentoring drummers of all ages and skill levels. During college, he was involved with the Eastman Community Music Division, and later, became a sought-after private instructor in the greater New York City area. In September 2024, David became the co-owner of the Chapel Hill School of Music alongside his partner, Rachel Hall, and looks forward to becoming a part of the music and arts community in North Carolina.
