Described by The Strad as “a seriously fine violinist with high-octane technical accomplishment and enormous panache,” Elle Shin has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician on major international stages, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Gasteig Munich, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. A prizewinner of several international competitions, she has performed with ensembles such as the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Virtuosi, and the Staatskapelle Weimar, and her Sony RCA Red Seal recording Russian Soul with the LGT Young Soloists received critical praise. Elle holds degrees from the Zurich University of the Arts and the Yale School of Music, where she was awarded the Broadus Erle Prize.
Now based in North Carolina, Elle is an active performer with the Durham Fellows Quartet and the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, and is deeply engaged in the region’s musical life. Alongside performing, she brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching, shaped by her extensive training and professional experience. Elle is particularly invested in nurturing curiosity, technical confidence, and musical independence in her students, while encouraging openness to a wide range of repertoire and perspectives.
