I was born in Titusville, PA the birthplace of the oil industry in NW Pennsylvania. I started voice lessons when I was 8 years old with a retired Canadian opera singer, Brownie Oberg. Later that same year I started piano lessons with the Sisters of Mercy from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. In college I majored in music education with a major in voice and minor in piano at Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduating with a BS degree in music education. I returned home and started to teach piano. I went to graduate school at Chicago Musical College, Roosevelt University in Chicago graduating earning a degree in Piano Pedagogy. While at Roosevelt U. I spent a summer in France studying with the French music educator Nadia Boulanger at the Chateau de Fontainebleau outside of Paris.
I moved to Williamsburg, VA and taught piano, accompanied in church, musicals and for students and adults who needed an accompanist. I also performed when the opportunity arose. While in Ohio I worked full time at Kent State University as an administrator in the Continuing Education Office. Our office worked with public school teachers needing continuing education credits. I have taught piano non-stop since finishing undergraduate school many decades ago. I moved to North Carolina last November 2022 for and am thrilled to be teaching at the Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts. Thank you.
